Prayer Request Please pray for Mary she has ovarian cancer and is undergoing chemo at this time. Mary is the daughter of Gary & Cindy Bennett and the grandaughter of Ed & Dell Standridge. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Please remember: Rev. Marvin F. Chatham of Roswell. He is in the Golden Living Center-Nothside, Rm. 320B.
Jimmy & Harriet Eager, who serve as International Mission Board missionaries in Nicaragua, are back in the states due to medical problems Harriet is experiencing. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer with some evidence of cancer in the lymph nodes. She will have a CT scan tomorrow and a bone scan on Thursday. Surgery is scheduled next week.
Jimmy asked that we pray that the CT and bone scans will reveal that the cancer has not spread to other parts of Harriet's body. You may email Jimmy and Harriet at jeager@ibw.com.ni. Updates will be provided as they become available. UPDATE ON Harriet: As most of you know, we returned to the U.S. in July to attend to some health needs of Harriet. She is recovering from her second surgery for breast cancer that was done on August 27. Her first surgery involved taking out a cancerous tumor and all of the lymph nodes on that side of her body. The pathology report on the tumor revealed that insufficient margins were taken out on one side of the tumor when it was removed. The second surgery removed more tissue that might cause problems. The pathology report on the second surgery showed that all of the cancerous tissue was removed. We will have a conference tomorrow, Sept. 1, with the oncologist, Dr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah, and her research assistant to review various options of chemotherapy. Dr. Jay is one of the leading doctors in her field. After about 4 months of chemotherapy, Harriet will undergo radiation treatments for about 6 weeks. When she recovers from all that she will go back to Dr. James Wood for possible surgery on three herniated disks in her neck.
Suggestion
We are still currently looking for any volunteers who would be interested in recording the Preachers and Deacon’s meetings.
The dates, times, and locations of the meeting will be posted on this page later. We could put these on CDs and offer them to any one who wants to hear the wonderful singing and preaching.
Announcement
The Georgia Baptist Historical Commission needs your help! We have begun registration for the 2009 Georgia Baptist History Conference and want to make sure that every church in every association is aware of this important event. That is why the Historical Commission is asking for your help. We are hoping that our associations will help to promote the conference by advertising it in the next issue of their newsletter. The Georgia Baptist History Conference is open to anyone interested in Georgia Baptist history. In addition to dynamic speakers like Dr. Emir Caner and Dr. Gerald Harris, a choice of break-out sessions are being offered that cover a variety of interests. There are sessions especially designed for pastors, writers, and historians. Plus, we offer general sessions covering the people and places that have helped to mold Georgia Baptists through the centuries. For more information about the Georgia Baptist History Conference, go to our website or call Rebecca Morris at 770.936.5309. |
